Dear Cozy Corner Parents,
|
Your child will soon be part of a series of classroom
presentations entitled P.R.OJ.E.CT. Charlie. The major objective of
P.R.OJ.E.CT. Charlie is to promote the social and emotional growth of
chi!dren as they enter the drug experimenting years of adolescence.
While many methods are used, the main focus of the program is helping
them to build social competencies and life skills as well as building
self-esteem.
The program is presented in seven weekly sessions
where the children will be actively participating by playing games, or
hearing stories an4 they will be receiving handouts each week. The
weekly lessons include:
- Introduction and Rules - YOU ARE SOMEONE
SPECIAL
- Warm Fuzzies and Cold Pricklies - Giving and
receiving compliments
- Uniqueness - Favorite things
- Feelings - Identifying and learning to handle
different feelings
- Friendship and Resolving Conflict - Qualities that
make good friends, resolving conflicts among friends, recognizing
when help is needed.
- The Effects of Drug Use - Understand effects of
drugs on the body, defining tobacco as a drug which is harmful and
unhealthy, identifying medicines as drugs which are helpful if taken
properly.
- Review and Completion Certificates
Parents are welcome to attend any of the sessions with
your child- Your child's teacher can tell you the schedule for each
class.
